The photoshoot for Nirvana’s second album, Nevermind, was taken by Kirk Weddle in May, 1991.
During live performances, Kurt and Krist usually tuned their guitars to E flat.
Initially, DGC Records was hoping to sell 250,000 copies of Nevermind, which was released on September 24, 1991. However, by Christmas 1991, Nevermind was selling 400,000 copies a week in the US.

The toy monkey on the back cover of Nevermind was owned by Kurt and was named Chim Chim.
Nirvana’s third studio album, In Utero, has sold over 5 million copies worldwide since its release in September of 1993. It took six days to record the album in February of 1993, and it debuted at #1.
Nirvana’s very first show in Europe was in the city Newcastle in England. This was on October 23rd, 1989.
While recording Bleach, Kurt felt that the album should fit the expectations of the Sub Pop “grunge” sound so that they could build a larger fan base. This resulted in the song Polly to be released in Nevermind, even though it was written in 1988.
Kurt Cobain described the sound of Nirvana when it first started as “a Gang of Four and Scratch Acid rip-off.”
Dave’s first instrument he learnt to play was the guitar at the age of twelve. Later in his high school years he taught himself how to play the drums. It’s stated that he taught himself how to play drums on pillows because his house was too small for a kit.
Unlike Live At Reading and MTV Unplugged in New York, From the Muddy Banks of Wishkah was recorded from various live performances in the years 1989 to 1994. It usually features 17 tracks, however on the Vinyl edition it features a bonus track, which makes it 18.
Nirvana’s first demo session was on January 23rd, at Reciprocal Recording in Seattle. Dale Crover played the drums and the band recorded ten songs in six hours.
Floyd the Barber, Paper Cuts, Downer, Beeswax, Mexican Seafood, Hairspray Queen, Aero Zeppelin, If You Must, Pen Cap Chew and Spank Thru were the songs recorded.
